It was a 1940’s era ice rink, with a very low ceiling with wooden beams. When a puck hit the end boards, there was a long echo sound. In 2006, it was converted into a storage warehouse.
Charlottesville Ice Rink
Charlottesville Ice Rink was located 2 miles north of the
University of Virginia
campus. It was on
Greenbriar Rd
, just off
US
route 29. It closed in the late 1970’s and the building has been used for multiple business uses since then.
Cumberland Skatium
Cumberland Skatium was built in the 1970’s in the Lemoyne area of
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
. The ice surface was removed in 2003. It is now a roller skating and multi purpose facility known as
Susquehanna Sports Center
.
University of Deleware Ice Arena
The original ice rink on the campus of The University of Delaware in
Newark, DE. This rink is known as the Gold Ice Arena and was constructed
in 1971. It is in the center of the picture. In 1988 an additional larger
ice rink, The Fred Rust Ice Arena, was built in front of the Gold Ice
Arena.
Skating Club of Wilmington
Skating Club of Wilmington opened in 1964 in Wilmington, Delaware. The SCW operates the ice rink as a year round facility. It is known for it’s arched roof and great ice surface.
Wissahickon Skating Club
Wissahickon Skating Club opened in 1955 in northwest
Philadelphia
. It is a classic older rink, known for it’s great ice surface, 2 tier benches for each team and after game hospitality shown to visiting men’s teams.
Westtown Ice Rink
Westtown Ice Rink opened in the late 1970's in West Chester, Pennsylvania. It operated for several
seasons as a rink, before being converted into a fitness & racquetball
club.
